and mythic, the blue Bobet
bicycle (for Louison
Bobet, 3-time winner
of the Tour de France),
leans against the red
bricks: a dandy,
a cocked French hat,
a matinee idol of a bicycle.
Yes, the chain and saddle
are mundane. But what
ghostly motion stirs,
what pent-up thrust
in the diamond frame.
Even the pre-
modern pin-
stripes and darts
in the robin egg
