There is intoxication
in the unfolding
first kisses of cherry trees
and in the breathing of apple blossoms
as we breathe back at them
and there is joy
in the re-creation of our better selves
opening inside flowers
those eyes of earth blinking in the old new light
in all the colors of moody-bright seas
and delight
as extroverted daffodils laugh at our follies
there is certain reverence as shy woodland trillium
show us again
the trinity we've forgotten
and there is soul as we kneel to the earthworm-garden soil
and let it pour over our fingers like
rich dark waters
