The pewter Jugendstil wine bottle caddy sitting
on my dresser secures 27 fountain pens.
A celluloid forest - striped and marbled trunks
that warm to the hand as words of meaning accrue,
My dissertation - written with a Parker Parkette,
medium gold nib, engraved Dr. Schwartz. Never
knew him, though he became my patron saint -
gratefully acknowledged on page 142. But a frown
sweeps across my face as I comprehend my kids
won't story with these family icons - the only script
they know is typed OMG and LOL.
