Within quarter-miles, the bus picked up bothVera Bradleys and duct-taped Jansports.
I shielded my eyes from the sun with books
About girls with ponies, Pluto a planet.
Kids from the apartments used F-words
What dads and stepmoms did when they were asleep
Or what they were when they brought home another F themselves.
The boy down the street pointed out the hair on
My legs so I cut them off.
I said, “See? They’re gone now. Are you happy?”
But neither of us were.
