THE WARRIOR’S HEART
The warrior’s heart
rejoices when the hand shoots,
or it feels pain,
but not enough to stop it.
The warrior’s heart
is filled with fear
every speck, every second,
but not enough to stop it.
The warrior’s heart
is under the fourth and fifth ribs,
just left of the midline.
A bullet, a knife, a shard of armor
stops it.
