To the last dangling melt of pure water
To what is now the lost language of ice.
A funeral for a dead glacier, white mass
Turned to dirt and scree under their feet.
Where is the turquoise blue, a child asks.

Yvonne Higgins Leach is the author of a poetry collection In the Spaces Between Us (Kelsay Books 2024). Her first collection Another Autumn was published by Cherry Grove Collections in 2014.
